WAR AGAINST LEBANON (in replaying for the Nelson report)
July 25th 2006

By Maya B. Naser

Dear Mr. Nelson, I might agree with the most of what you have wrote, but I disagree with you when you have described the war against Lebanon as Israeli disaster, I believe this war is US PR disaster.

When the secretary of State announced from Washington DC 24hrs. Before her visit to the region that ME in a process of new born she has given a clear idea about her visit and I would like to ask her advisers what exactly the benefits US achieved by this announcement beside increasing the anti-Americans in the region and the world.

Does this administration have any idea about how such actions are reflecting on 250 millions from the Arabic and Islamic world ?

Does this administration aware that bumping 30 million dollars aid into Lebanese economy along with bumping Beirut latterly by US made weapons won't come up with anything but increasing the anti-Americans.

Does this administration aware that Islamic radicals are taking advantage of each US mistake in order to increase their supporters?

and
.
.
.

Bush administration now seems to be living on different planet, either that or they have Hugh lake of understanding the nature of ME and Islamic world, their interference in the region is always disaster for it, it sounds that screwing up is the best advantage of this administration in ME...!!!

What was surprising in this war that US and Israel haven't noticed that they sent Lebanon back into the Syrian and Iranian lap again.

I guess now US must take a positive action not in order to cease the fire only but to reach a permanent solution for the millicent weapons, building strong government, dealing with Hezbollah as a real political party exists on land, and supporting Lebanese economy

If the above happened I believe a job well done, and then US can move to the Syrian regime in order to naturalized it.

Syria is a key player in the region, US can't work out any permanent solution for the ME stability by ignoring it, I think US state department must start on improving PR with the Syrian especially at the moment due to the fact that Syrians demands now are still limited, by time Syrian power is increasing, Syrian regime is getting stronger, then I strongly believe Syrians will not accept any solution that doesn't include Iran and Iranian arsenal with it.

So after 4 years on this war, did any change happen to the scene? What do you think will happen in the next 4 years?
