Just a friends

What is the wrong with the world ?! I mean is people loosing their minds or what?... 

Almost 2 months ago I was jogging on the beach as I do every morning, and while on it, another guy run along next to me aiming to open a conversation (as I have sensed).

Fine with me so far, I stopped to take my breath and sip of water as I always do when he opened his statement by saying its amazing weather for such sport (let me remind you guys it was raining and cold like worst than hill if there is something like this)

I  was a bit confused about what should I answer but then decided to not make it hard and I said well somehow its good line to open a conversation and since you sound foreigner I am sure you need some company from time to time which I don't mind.

He smiled at me asking to run along with me every day.

"Of course no problem" I said

Anyway we start running every day for an hour or so.

Yesterday he  invited me for a dinner at home, which of course I couldn't say no especially when I knew his wife is a Mexican and the dinner would be home made.

During his invitation he kindda implied to get a female friend so the dinner would be for couples.

I called my friend (X) telling her that I am invited for a dinner and need a date with me, and I am sure I made it clear that its just social and our relationship is so good I don't wanna screw it with being couple or anything.

We were there as scheduled with a bottle of very fine wine, and we sat on the table when his wife did some thanks prayer, and the food was delicious, in fact everything was so cool when suddenly his wife looked at us and asked me since when you are together?

That’s when I Clearfield that we are just friends.

In a way or another Ms. (X) considered this as an insult, and answered we are not together and will never be cause he's so selfish and he enjoys living in the past and on a memory of dead love.

She didn't stop there, she kept going on and on talking about my "case" and how much I was a joke for my ex...

Anyway, I don't wanna go into details for the next few minutes, but the whole dinner thing went on for another  15min when I asked (X) to leave and we got into the car and dropped her home.

You guys are my friends, and my readers can you tell me what is it exactly I did wrong!!!

Or it wasn't me, it's just not normal cause asking someone to be your companion isn't good thing anymore!!!?  

What is it my case anyway? I mean I am someone who breaks the only woman's heart he ever felt home with, and had his heart broken too.

What is it with people that wanna fix me, or help me?

I don't mean to sound swanky but come on, I just need a friend, someone who doesn't judge or try to tell me what to do… just a friend
