The corruption scandal that broke out recently involving the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert rules out any possible chance for the Jewish State to have clean ruling and governance, let alone possible end to its barbaric policies.
Headlines depicting the Israeli Premier’s corruption charges more than two years ago hit the Israeli government hard at a time it was struggling to mend its tarnished image after its defaming and horrific defeat in Lebanon’s war that sent the Israeli soldiers, crying, back home.
Once again, the outbreak of Olmert’s scandal involving possible bribery indictment at a time that’s quite worrying for the Jewish State which has long been hit by not-less scandalous and tarnishing events involving its top leaders up to the President, might indeed bring down the Israeli government.
But the impact and the magnitude of such scandals had always been downplayed the minute they made their way to newspapers’ headlines.
The corruption investigation currently running to explore the credibility of bribery charges raised against Olmert may indeed force him to step down, clearing the way for Mrs Livni, the Israeli Foreign Minister and the expected successor, to take over and ensure more treacherous policies being applied against Palestinians, not to mention the eventuality of elections.
However; it doesn’t seem to astonish me much, for, correct me if I’m wrong or happen to exaggerate, Israel has long proved to be a scandal-rich nation.
Please allow me to browse through Israel’s juicy history of scandals as far as my memory will take me.
- A year ago, the Israeli President Moshe Katsav was forced to resign over charges of rape and sexual harassment.
- A while later Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson was forced to step down having been linked to another corruption case involving misuse of millions from a union he ran.
- Also back in 2000, President Ezer Weizman resigned amidst calls to step down over bribery charges.
- And in 1977, Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was forced to submit his resignation right before elections after his wife was accused of possessing illegal foreign currency account in the U.S.
- Also a couple of years ago, Omri Sharon, son of Ariel Sharon, the ex Israeli Prime Minister, was accused of corruption incolving fund raising for his father’s election bid to lead the Likud in 1999.
Ariel Sharon fell into a long comma following an unexpected stroke that hit him more than two years ago after he left the Palestinians an unforgettable legacy of treacherous crimes, let alone the animosity he created at the Likud Party. Sharon hasn’t recovered yet.
And of course, on top of all these was that involving Prime Minister Ehud Barak who was linked to campaign finance scandal. - And in 1997, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was hit by another, not less tarnishing, scandal- involving breach of trust for having appointed Roni Bar-On as attorney general.
The Israeli leaders never stop amazing me.
They say history repeats itself and Israel is definitely no exception.

You know Leo, you are just another Natzi who doesn't deserve to be asnwered.
You are talking about the courrption of the Israeli leaders forgetting all about the courrption of the Arab kings and presidents particulary the Palestinan's.
Every time Israeli leader tries to make peace with Syrian's eithier end up dead, or courrapted...
Israel doesn't want peace for the arabs, whenever one of their own openes a door they sut it for him.
I think this is how Democracy works Lili, whenever a leader on whatever size he is makes a mistake he should be asked and punished for it whrther he's PM or low level employee.
I really don't believe you are doing this, we were friends for long time and now i see this article on your fb notes.
I didn't you take sides this way or maybe your Palestinan wife has got into you,
Anyway, Ehud Olmert is humanbeing who made a mistake and deserves a punishment for it.
Lili, it has nothing to do with his move to make peace it has all as Ms. Natali described it DEMOCRACY. its something in ME not known well.
Jennifer, If this what you call Democracy will come in the form od US democracy in Iraq believe me its not wanted at all.
And why you are shocked with Leo's refections, the man is stating facts, I didn't see him attacking Jewish niether the Israli.
Please don't lecture us about Israeli democracy, Israel is racist country and your ignorance with this fact isn't justified.

Ron you are just another idiot who doesn't read or learn how to read.
Go to the video on Palestine, part 3, and maybe watching will help you inlight the way a little
Leo, The arabs wanted to through Israel in the sea.
Iran wants to wipe it out from the map.
That Video and that articls you are writing are within the same plan.

don't tell me that he's attacking Zionism, come on that is so insulting.
He mentioned clearly in his article "barbaric policies" referring to Israel not to Zionism.
You fuckin shit, how you tiwst the history by saying Israel lost in the wat against Lebanon meanwhile the Lebanese themselves (or at least the resonable part of them) says different.
It seems Mr. Paulo you haven't read the Winograd Commission report about war against Lebanon.
I would advise you to have look at it before accusing someone with twisting the history,
However, I will make it easy for you
