I was having lunch with a few big shot businessmen yesterday at Grand HYATT Hotel, and so naturally the topic of politics came up.
What I didn't know was the Grand HYATT Tower that was constructed newly was reported to have cost $78 million!!!
Now what was interesting that, the company of businessmen that I was having lunch with are older and very experienced when it comes to "valuing" certain infrastructures. They can basically look at a building or a bridge or a tower (for that matter) and tell you the estimated COST of construction for a particular project. And if they get the estimation wrong, it would be in the region of a 5% differential only.
So when it was stated that the Tower cost "$78 million", it just makes you raise your eyebrow a little bit (maybe a lot).
According to their estimation, that Tower should have cost in the region of $20 million to $30 million. And when you look at the tower, it certainly doesn't look like a $78 million project, now does it? For $78 million I would expect the whole Tower to be made out of Gold lah! But what we have here is crap.
So hence, the question remains:
Who pocketed the remaining $50 million out of that project???
I think all of us know the answer to that already lah, but somehow there is nothing any of us can do about it.
We are constantly being screwed from the LEFT, RIGHT and CENTER by our Government.
SAD BUT TRUE.

78$m this is huge number to build such hotel...
with 78$ Million we can feed Africa for good while although.

I don't think that HYATT cost that much, I heard in a range of $50Million.even though its still big number.
