Office Rumours

In every office there is bound to be a character who is somewhat (how shall I put it?), "too free to work". Normally these sort of people would be walking around from desk to desk trying to find something (anything) to talk about (normally women lah).

Well, our office (in fact our floor) has one such person, and we refer to her as FLO. Now FLO is not a bad person lah, I should say. In fact she can be quite helpful during certain times (like when I wanted to go to do shopping for my Doud and I anniversary after I took down payment of my salary, she was passing by me and asked me what I am thinking of. The next thing I knew was, she came with her bunch of papers, and recommended to me which is good and cheap, etc etc). Now how can you possibly hate a person like that right? She's just a "busy-body", but like I said - it can work for you, or it will work to your annoyance.

A close colleague of mine, LT and I (the only two new employees) find her particular annoying to a point where we decided to start calling her "stupid flo". I know it sounds pretty vicious, but trust me, it's all for a good cause. :P

During last week, the rumours that went around our office was about Company BONUS (Everybody's favourite yet scariest topic). Flo was the first to go around and tell everybody that she "heard" rumours that this month has no bonus, which got a few people (particularly the clerks at the same rank as her) all worried.

Then during early this week, she said rumours were being passed around that this month our Bonus is probably gonna be 1 day only (previous months were always 6 days bonus). Her reasoning is that, her "source" told her that he met the BIG BOSS' brother in the timber camp, and the BIG BOSS' brother told him (the "source") that this month bonus is going to be 1 day only. So she started to spread the news to everybody.

At the end of the week, the bonus came out to be 6 days bonus (as per previous month). And she didn't say a word about it after.

Now, this is the same Flo that came up to me two weeks ago and told me that furniture giant here in the city called "Furniture expo" is being bought over by IKEA. So I asked her how does she know, she said her "source" told her that, cause (at that time Expo's building was undergoing massive repainting works - it was all Bright Blue and bits of Yellow, which is IKEA's trade mark colours) he heard from someone that Ikea has bought over Furniture Damas, and that's why they're repainting the whole building BLUE. And she was telling this story to each desk - one by one (like all her other stories). And I was thinking to myself, "Why on earth would Ikea wanna open in a small town like Our's? If you say Kuching, then probably I'll agree lah. But Here?"

Anyway, suffice to say after the repainting works were completed, I drove pass the building one day and I saw the new colours and saw words, Written in Capital Letters - "Furniture EXP".Now, LT and I have experienced these "nonsense" from Flo so much these few past dyas, since we are the only two new employees at the building.

so that these days when she comes up to us and tells us a "rumour", we just nod to her and say, "Oh, ya kah?", "Hmm, I see, I see".These kinda people can't be stopped, you just gotta let them be what they are - IDIOTS.
